FAQ: Thermoplastic Hoses

Why Should I Use Thermoplastic Hoses and Hose Assemblies?

Specialty Hose Capability:  Thermoplastic hoses can perform in many specialty applications
such as electrically non-conductive, breathing air, CNG (compressed natural gas), sewer cleaning,
hydraulic jack, diagnostic, refrigerant, paint spray and grease line, just to name a few.

Lightweight by Design:  Thermoplastic hoses weigh considerably less than rubber hose
assemblies (up to 40% less).

Superior Abrasion Resistance:  Urethane and Nylon style covers provide the industry’s highest
level of abrasion resistance.  They can outlast standard rubber hoses by up to 10 times.

Crimpable, Swageable, Field-attachable:  Some Parflex Thermoplastic hoses can be
assembled using any of these 3 methods of fitting attachment for added convenience.

Easy to Cut:  Fabric-reinforced thermoplastic hoses do not require high power saws for cutting.
Simple hand or blade cutters can be used, thus reducing contaminants in an assembly.

Clean Core Tubes:  Unlike rubber core tubes, thermoplastic core tubes are clean when cut and
greatly reduce the chance of contamination in today’s state-of-the-art hydraulic systems.

Long shelf life:  Thermoplastic hoses and assemblies do not continuously cure and
won’t degrade when stored properly.

Colors:  Thermoplastic hoses can be manufactured in almost any conceivable color,
allowing customers brand identity, color coding and traceability.

UV-resistant:  Jackets for Parflex Thermoplastic hoses are UV stabilized for optimal
weather resistance.

Coiled/ Retractable Capability:  Some thermoplastic hoses can be coiled,
so they’re retractable for easy, compact storage.

Bonded Components:  Some thermoplastic hoses and tubing can be bonded together
in multiple sizes and products.

Bundling:  Parflex allows the ability to bundle hose and tubing together in a variety of combinations.

Pre-Formed Hose Assemblies:  Some Thermoplastic hoses can be pre-formed,
so they can often replace expensive metal hoses, tubing or adapters.
